SpaProof, Formerly Softcare pH Hold
Discontinued: We recommend using Leisure Time pH Balance Plus, especially if you are dealing with the pH of local hard water!
SpaProof (Formerly Softcare pH Hold) is a revolutionary new product that is added just once to your spa at each new water change. SpaProof harmonizes the water and creates a stable pH. This helps extend the life of your chemicals. And because SpaProof contains mineral salts, it makes your skin feel smooth and makes your water sparkle.
Raise the pH, lower the pH, adjust the calcium, add clarifier…it seems the adjustments are endless! And even then, your hot tub water doesn’t always look really clean and clear.
SpaProof has the unique ability to absorb both acid and base. So if the spa or hot tub water pH rises or falls, SpaProof can absorb those changes. This pH stabilization allows your hot tub sanitizers to function better and last longer. Add SpaProof just once each time you change your spa water.
Customers report savings of up to 30% on hot tub chemical costs. For many spa and hot tub owners, SpaProof essentially pays for itself.
In addition to enhancing your hot tub’s sanitizer performance, SpaProof’s active ingredient, borate (a natural mineral salt), actually increases the refractory index of water, making it sparkle more than regular water. The hot tub stays cleaner, the water clearer.

Directions For Use
SpaProof is a pH balanced, micro micellar borate emulsion that
provides the following benefits:
• Stabilizes pH to correct level (7.6–7.8) to help:
– Relieve eye irritation
– Reduce chlorine loss
– Maintain quality with lower cyanuric acid levels
• Reduces pump time
• Makes water sparkle
• Makes skin feel smooth
SpaProof comes as a pre-mixed, ready-to-use liquid. It is
compatible with all materials used in the normal maintenance
of spas, including bromine spas.
Spa Size (gallons) – SpaProof (ounces)
200 – 13
300 – 19
500 – 32 (1 quart)
1000 – 64 (2 quarts)
2000 – 128 (4 quarts)
Using the table above, add the correct amount of material in your spa water to achieve a minimum of 50 ppm of boron (ppm B).
For the first application, mix 32 oz. (1 quart) of SpaProof to every 500 gallons of spa water (54 ppm B). For problem or high-load spas, add SpaProof to increase ppm level up to 80 ppm to improve performance (for example, 32 oz. of SpaProof per 375 gallons of spa water = 70 ppm).
Shake well before using. Turn on spa pump and locate an overflow jet. Remove cap and pour SpaProof over the outflow jet. Rinse empty container with spa water and add to spa. Run pump to achieve complete turnover, then test the pH level. It should be 7.6–7.8 You can also use a boron indicator test kit to test the boron concentration (ppm B). Storage at high temperatures or for extended periods of time is expected to cause settling. Settled product may take longer to dissolve, but will not negatively affect performance.
Water loss from splash-out or water draw down will reduce the amount of SpaProof. Use a Boron Indicator Test to maintain 36–50 ppm of boron and add product as needed. SpaProof does not evaporate and is not degraded by sunlight. If your spa size is not listed, add or subtract SpaProof using the table above to help calculate the specific amount of product you need.
